Faculty Feature: Dr. Carol Doan

Dr. Carol J. Doan, Director of the Undergraduate Programs joined Ashland University in August 2010. Carol has more than 30 years’ experience in the health care profession, including 10 years of academic experience as faculty member for Mt. Carmel College of Nursing, Franklin University, and as assistant dean and program administrator for Chamberlin University.  She earned her PhD in education with a specialty in Instructional Design for Online Learning from Capella University, Master of Science in Nursing with a Gerontology focus from the Ohio State University, a BSN from Ohio University with a certificate in Gerontology, and a Diploma in Nursing from Good Samaritan School of Nursing.

Dr. Doan’s teaching expertise includes leadership, geriatric nursing, and complex nursing care. Research interests include, the applicability of instructional design theories and strategies that stimulate clinical reasoning and problem solving in the online environment and clinical simulation; and harassment and cyber stalking in the scholarly online environment.

In December, 2007 Carol was recognized in Ohio Magazine for contributions and dedication to achieving Excellence in Education.
