Nurses Day at the Statehouse

The Ohio Nurses Association hosted its annual Nurses Day at the Statehouse (NDASH) on February 29, 2012.  Hundreds of nurses and nursing students from all over the state gathered at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus to learn more about how they can be an influential part of Ohio's political process.

The Ashland University College of Nursing had numerous faculty and students attend this day long event.  Nurses Day at the Statehouse included listening to legislators speak on healthcare issues, hearing from panelists representing nursing specialty organizations and touring the Statehouse.  Ashland University College of Nursing Associate Dean, Peggy Halter, was a panelist representing the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.

Ashland University faculty and students attending the NDASH included from left to right  Emily Buckner, Jordann Salser, Peggy Halter, Emily Herold, Samantha Magyar, and Emily Thorne.  Standing are Jacoby Baab, Brian Cuffman, and Jordyn Hatcher.  Not pictured are Juanita Reese-Kline and Kelsey Thiel.

During their time at the Statehouse, Ashland University faculty and students also met State Representative David Hall who is currently serving his second term in the Ohio House of Representative.  He represents the 97th House District, which includes portions of Ashland, Medina and all of Holmes counties.  He is a strong supporter of Ashland University College of Nursing.
