The New Store was formed in 1996 under the name The Richland County Children Services Auxiliary. It began when community minded individuals desired to help the children, associated with Richland County Children Services, receive Christmas gifts. This organization has since grown and provides multiple services to better the lives of children in Richland County.

The New Store provides clothing at no cost to local qualifying school children. The SCRUBS Society helped with Dressing Days which is the highlight of their program. They helped the children pick out clothes and encouraged them as they go throughout the store. SCRUBS Society president Brooke Agnes, shares "The New Store was such an amazing experience. It was truly an incredible time and the kiddos are fantastic!"
