Nursing Alumni Hold Annual Banquet

The Dwight Schar College of Nursing Alumni held their annual banquet at the Ontario Event Center (Ontario, OH) on September 22, 2018. The Classes of 1968 and 1993 of Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing were honored. Each member gave a brief description of their careers. All had remained in the nursing field.

All of the 2018 scholarship winners were present. They are Katelyn Miller, Monica Dannemiller, Melanie Hyder and Amanda Janecek. Katelyn, Monica, and Melanie were chosen to receive $1000.00 each by the alumni board based on essays they wrote, which were read at the banquet. Amanda received $3163.00 from the Nursing Alumni Endowed Fund.

OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, formerly Mansfield General Hospital, is celebrating 100 years in 2018. Jeff Mandeville and Kathleen Addlesperger from the Richland County Museum put on a funny skit portraying a doctor and a nurse in 1918. 

Winners of the raffle sponsored by the alumni association were: Mary Fair (MGH 1978), Eleanor Regula (MGH 1952) and Mary Lou Davidson (AU 1998). 

It was announced at the banquet that unless interest increases there is the potential to discontinue the annual banquets and the association may be disbanded. There are only a few who attend the meetings and are willing to help with activities. If you are interested, call any of the board members listed on the update letter which was included with your banquet invitation. Invite your classmates as well.
