The Annual National Student Nurses’ Association Convention

The following excerpts were taken from the May 2011 Ohio Nursing Students’ Association Newsletter.

"The Annual National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) Convention was held in Salt Lake City, Utah April 6th-10th, 2011.

Congratulations to all of the Ohio students that were recognized for their outstanding nursing education achievements. The University of Cincinnati and The University of Ashland‐Dwight Schar College of Nursing had poster presentations about projects they have been working on in their student nurse associations."

"Three members of the Ashland University Dwight Schar College of Nursing Student Nurse Association located in Mansfield, Ohio attended the NSNA Annual Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. During the convention, they participated in the poster presentation exhibit sponsored by the NSNA. Their chapter, formerly known as MedCentral‐ SNA, chose to create a poster that shared their past fundraising, community service, and breakthrough to nursing events run by their student nurses. Sami Wise, Sarah Strohminger, and Kristen Leiber used the idea of their school value model, I CARE. The core values of Integrity, Caring, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence were represented in their local chapter with Informatics, Community Service, Awareness, Reaching Out, and Education. The poster displayed photos from all of their activities that could be categorized into the chapter’s I CARE model. Many other chapters displayed their posters but NSNA students from around the nation showed great interest in AU’s poster. Several state and local chapter breakthrough to nursing directors were able to ask questions and get ideas to help increase their membership, reach out to their community, and raise awareness about the nursing field."
