CON Alumni Association

The College of Nursing Alumni Association was first developed in 1924 by four of the seven Mansfield General School of Nursing graduates that year. During these early years, the Alumni Association offered educational and social activities. When continuing education was required for nurses, the Alumni Association would sponsor guest speakers that would qualify for CEU points. Early in the 2000s, the Mansfield General School of Nursing became MedCentral College of Nursing. At this time, the Alumni Association began focusing on raising funds for student nurse scholarships. They organized activities such as jewelery sales, baskets at Christmas, and a raffle to raise scholarship money. In 2010, Ashland University acquired the MedCentral College of Nursing. The Alumni Association became the Ashland University Dwight Schar College of Nursing (DSCON) Alumni Association. The goal of the association remained the same, educational and social activities as well as student nurse scholarships.

The DSCON Alumni Association meets on the third Thursday of every month at 1:30 pm at the College of Nursing in Mansfield on Glessner Avenue. A Christmas luncheon is also held each December in place of the regular meeting. Membership in the organization is open to anyone who graduated in nursing from any of the three schools. All graduates are encouraged to join the Dwight Schar College of Nursing Alumni Association.  Above are pictures from the alumni Christmas luncheon. It was held December 15th at the Brick Oven Restaurant. Sixteen members attended.
